After a year of bootstrapping, Shoply is making its formal debut today! Shoply is on a mission to socialize and democratize e-commerce.
Shoply gives anyone, from individuals to small-medium sized businesses, an easy way to sell things online. Since their launch last year, they have already recruited 10,000 sellers to their site. All this, with just a team of 3!

High-end fashion houses are slowly, but surely embracing the fact that social media is one of the best ways to directly connect with their fans. MOSCHINO has now joined the ranks of Christian Dior, CHANEL, and others by starting a full on social media campaign titled “Pic Me by MOSCHINO”.
MOSCHINO fans will have the opportunity to personalize pictures with a choice of distinctive MOSCHINO picture frames, which will be updated constantly by the fashion house’s creative team. Pictures can then be shared with friends and social media contacts.
Once you create your “Pic Me” photo, you can add another personal touch by commenting on your photo through ‘Post It’ style graphics.

Nothing tickles the SML team more than coming across tech firms that combine fashion and technology in a phenomenal way (for obvious reasons).

We found a new fabulous new app for you to enjoy. If you live in NYC or travelling here in the near future you are going to enjoy this one! Gwyneth Paltrow’s blog/newsletter GOOP has release an app compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It just launched a few days ago.
The GOOP app is a brilliant guide to NYC–from where to eat, to where to shop, and what to do in an emergency. The next cities to be added are London and Los Angeles.

Here is a fab little way to occupy yourself during some downtime at work. Dior has released the Dior Games video featuring music by La Roux.
You’ll see hints of Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros, and a few vintage Atari games.
After viewing this video you’ll want to: 1. go play some old arcade games (I feel like heading over to Coney Island) and 2. explore with make-up, in particular bold sexy colors that will do more than brighten up your confidence…and mojo for the day.
It’s interesting to see traditional/classical fashion houses step outside of the box and explore different ways to connect with their customers. With Dior Games, Dior is embracing everyone from the young lady who dreams about being draped in Dior when she’s older, to the older lady who loves to be taken on a trip down memory lane–her childhood, when she used to dream a little bit more.
Recently, Dior explored another form of art by hosting “Picturing Marilyn” opening at Milk Gallery, NYC. The exhibition features 62 photographs, visitors to the gallery can see iconic works as well as rare unseen pictures of the Hollywood icon, including an unpublished shot of Monroe in a black backless Dior gown from The Last Sitting photo-session by Bert Stern, taken six days before she died.

3-D body scanner by Bodymetrics
I wouldn’t mind this body scan promising me to find the perfect fitting jeans, a blouse where the buttons aren’t hanging on for dear life, and a dress sits right where I want it.
The measures I’ll go through to make sure what I’m purchasing fits me like a glove aren’t appropriate enough to list here, but let’s just say women (and men) will do anything to score the perfect fitting jeans.
The company Bodymetrics has introduced 3-D sensors by PrimeSense to the fashion industry. Although “body scanners” in the retail industry isn’t a breakthrough idea (Selfridges in London has installed Bodymetrics scanners for the single purpose of helping consumers find the right pairs of jeans), the idea of a full body 3-D scan is.
The body scanner uses eight PrimeSense™ 3D sensors to map the body’s measurements and shape. Bodymetrics revolutionizes the way consumers buy clothes through the virtual ‘try on’ of outfits both at retail stores and through online clothing retailers, enabling customers to gauge a more realistic fit before purchase.
The new 3D body scanner with the PrimeSense technology launched at New Look, a global clothing retailer at their newest location in the Westfield Stratford shopping complex. New Look is the UK’s largest high-street jeans retailer, selling a pair of jeans every seven seconds. The initial 3D body scanner application focuses on providing advice by Bodymetrics ‘Fit Stylists’ for the best fitting jeans for female customers. The scanner quickly and accurately calculates 100 measurements. Body-shape analytics are then used to find garments that best suit the customer’s unique shape and size. -Forbes
