The Psychology Behind Good Hair

Don’t we all hate those girls with flawless hairstyles that are always smiling because they just know it? While we all know that looks are important, we are secretly jealous of those girls for good reasons. According to psychologist Vivian Diller, bad hair days can negatively affect our mental health and well-being.

In this article, Diller says that “Although we’d like to believe “what is inside counts most,” scientific evidence, as well as common sense, tells us that an appealing appearance, good health and hygiene positively impacts our lives.”

What do you guys think? Fact or Faux?

Beauty DIY: Sideswept Bangs

One of the best ways to change your overall look is to change your hair–it’s really the best part of any makeover!  You can change your hair color, but then you risk damaging your hair and having to wait for it to grow out when you get tired of it after 3 weeks (or change the color again, causing more damage) OR you can simply cut chic, yet sophisticated sideswept bangs.

God knows I’ve tried to cut my own bangs several times–#FAIL!  However, if you follow this DIY video by amazing beauty vlogger rosebud143 on how to cut your own sideswept bangs, you’ll cruise through without any hair catastrophes.

DIY Celeb Beauty Look for the Holidays: Hillary Duff meets Brigitte Bardot

DIY celebrity beauty hair styles with Hillary Duff

There is something so glamorous about having your hair styled in classic ways.  Here, Hillary Duff gained inspiration from the ever-s0-classic Brigitte Bardot. She decided she was going to glam-up her book signing while in NYC.

“Hilary and I are always drawn to the casual glamour of Brigitte Bardot,” says hairstylist Marcus Francis.  Loved how he added a fun twist to this elegantly, mild poof by using a  playful leather studded headband.

Here’s how to DIY:

STEP 1. Treat damp hair from middle of strands to ends with Phytovolume Actif Maximizing Volume Spray and work in with hands. Spray at the roots and blow-dry in sections with a vented 1 and 1/4-in. round brush.

STEP 2. Clip up a Mohawk-section of hair at crown. Prep bottom portion of remaining hair with L’Oréal Elnett StrongHold Hairspray and wrap around a 1″-in. curling iron from roots to ends, away from face. Mist curls with Phytovolume Actif Maximizing Volume Spray, and brush with a paddle bristle brush for large waves. Add softness with Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk Aerosol Spray.

STEP 3. Unclip top section of hair and gently tease in 1/2-in. sections from the front hairline to the back of crown. Smooth out with paddle brush, leaving the height and messy texture intact.

STEP 4. Pull sides back at an angle into a half-up/half-down style, securing with large bobby pins underneath the hair. Top off with a thin headband placed a few inches from front hairline. Seal with a quick spray of L’Oréal Elnett StrongHold Hairspray.
