J.C. Penney, or as they now refer to themselves as jcpenney, began its retail makeover today. J.C. Penney has a new logo, and a new strategy as they are trying to revitalize its reputation. Its goal is to regain popularity and become “America’s favorite store” once again. Additionally, J.C. Penney is marking down the majority of their merchandise by 40% and almost eliminating coupons and sales so that customers don’t have to wait for a promotion to land a good deal. Last year, J.C. Penney had almost 600 separate sales events, but this year they are only planning to have around 12.
